This area was just a rocky hill without any vegetation until Sam Lidman came up with the idea to turn it into a place for the body and soul. Work commenced in 1862, trees and bushes were planted, paths and steps were laid and small gazebos were constructed where people could sit and enjoy the view of the city and the lake. Sam Lidman has inscriptions inscribed on over 500 stones in the park, making Djäkneberget a truly unique place.
