Rederi Mälarstaden, which dates back to 1830, operates services to and from Västerås’ 3 most popular paradise islands all year round with its fleet of 3 ferryboats and one hovercraft. From early spring to late autumn there are daily services to the islands of Östra Holmen, Elba, Almö Lindö, Skåpholmen, Ridön and Strömskär. During the summer the company also operates services to Gripsholm, Sundbyholm, Torshälla and Tidö.
The ferry harbour in Västerås is just 5 minutes from the city centre, close to the railway station. You can get here by car, by bike or on foot. Rederi Mälarstaden’s fleet includes the fine old ferryboat Elba, built in 1897, Sunnanvind and Havsörnen in addition to the hovercraft Gert Fylking, which operates during the winter months. 3-hour Taco cruises Havsörnen departs on a 3-hour taco cruise every Friday evening from May to September, with live entertainment, a huge taco buffet and a fully licensed bar.
The ferryboats are also available for charter for groups and companies.
