VÄSTERÅSMAP»
Tidö Toy & Comic Museum

The museum boasts Europe’s foremost collection of antique toys, mainly those made before the days of mass production when toys became consumer goods.

Besides the large number of toys donated by King Carl XVI Gustaf, there is also everything from toys owned by Russian Tsars to Pippi Longstocking dolls made from dough in the Himalayas.

There are rarities from Enköpings Leksaksfabrik, the largest toy factory in Sweden before the Second World War, and Penny Toys – sports cars, aeroplanes, boats, trains, dolls, doll’s house interiors, and teddy bears as well as an exhibition in the form of rare comics and life-size sculptures of Tintin, Lucky Luke and Bamse.

The comic exhibition is mostly made up of private collections of rare comics that the museum has bought – first editions, original illustrations and merchandising material. The sculptures have been created by Hans Cedergran.

Opening hours: June-August open Tuesday-Sunday 11.00-17.00.
September-May open Saturday-Sunday 12.00-17.00.
